At The Cyclist Choice, we celebrate everyday cyclists—people who ride for fitness, commuting, and the simple joy of being outside. Our goal is clarity: plain-English guidance on e-bike laws & access and a practical bike sizing guide that helps you get the fit right.

Mission

Make cycling knowledge accessible, accurate, and actionable—without jargon or hype. We focus on what most riders ask first: “Where can I legally ride my e-bike?” and “What size bike fits me best?”

Who’s Behind It

I’m Kris Bruington, founder of The Cyclist Choice and a career wildland firefighter with over 20 years protecting public lands across the western United States—Hotshot (15 years), Battalion Chief, Division Chief, and Air Attack Supervisor. Those roles sharpened my attention to detail and my ability to interpret complex regulations with real-world intent in mind.

Cycling started as training for the job and turned into thousands of miles on singletrack, gravel, and city lanes. When e-bikes appeared on trails I knew well, the rulebook got messy—different agencies and cities saying different things. I built this site to cut through that confusion and point riders to the actual rules.

What We Publish (and What We Don’t)

  • Laws & Access: State and federal e-bike classifications, where you can ride, and links to the official sources.
  • Bike Sizing: A straightforward sizing framework to get riders into the right fit.

We do not publish product reviews, how-to repair guides, or affiliate content.

How Content Is Created

  • Primary sources first: We cite statutes, CFR sections, agency orders, and official pages.
  • Human-led, tool-assisted: AI helps outline and edit; a human plans, reviews, and approves every page.
  • Updates & corrections: Laws change. We revise pages as needed and display a “Last updated” date at the top. If you spot an issue, please tell us via our Contact page.
